Details
David has lived in Edmonton, Alberta since 1952. He obtained a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Alberta in 1972. In January 2011, David obtained accreditation in the scenic category with the Professional Photographers of Canada.
Although David’s focus is landscape photography (classic pictorial and abstract), he is also exploring using photography as contemporary art in the context of documentary photography. His goal is to create innovative and thought-provoking images about the issues surrounding the physical and cultural use of land in protected and semi-protected areas. David has held several successful showings and self-published one book, Wainwrights’ Coast to Coast Trail. His prints can also be found in small galleries thought Edmonton.
In 2015 David started teaching landscape photography at the Burwell School of Photography and he continues to do so. He is also a sought-after image adjudicator and lecturer.
David spends much of his time photographing in and around Edmonton, Jasper, Banff, and Northern Alberta. He is committed to Ethical Photography and strictly follows the principles of Leave No Trace.
